ACTING FOR THE STAGE

This class is designed to help a group of students form an ensemble and hone skills with team-building exercises, improv acting and story-telling. We will have an introduction to creating a character and portraying truthful human behavior in the given circumstances.  We learn to listen and respond intelligently, as we free ourselves from judgemental blocks and use our imagination and experience in fun, creations for presentation.

CHARACTER CREATION/WRITING

We will be given the tools to examine who we are and then how a character we create might be the same or different and in what ways. With a combination of discussion on topics and issues that are important to us,and quiet time to write out our thoughts, we will work on a carefully curated questionnaire. Those who choose to come to this workshop BOTH times we offer it, may be able to progress to page two where we begin to create a story for the characters we are working on.

AN EXPLORATION OF VISUAL ARTS

By allowing ourselves to express feelings and ideas through colors, shapes and designs, we can reflect the challenges and beauty of life. Experience the healing power of creativity, community and story-telling. Students will be encouraged to create pieces using various mediums which express one or more emotions from their own experiences. Our emotions can create art, and art can evoke emotions. We will also be asked to comment on the work of others and how it makes us feel. We strive to unlock a student’s artistic potential, freeing their voices for justice, freedom and change. We provide the materials, you provide the emotions and ideas!

Ms. Traci

Broadway karaoke
